To work in Canada, temporary foreign workers must have a social insurance number (SIN). If they do not have one, they need to apply for a SIN. Their employer can support them in the process. Service Canada offers several options to facilitate the process.
Proposed option:
· Applying for a SIN online:
ü This is the simplest and quickest way to apply.
ü It allows clients to skip the queues at Service Canada Centres.
ü Clients can submit an application online, upload the required documents and, once the application is processed, obtain a SIN on the My Service Canada Account (MSCA) portal or by mail.
Virtual information sessions
As an employer or agency, you offer support to TFWs. If you are interested, Service Canada can offer you information sessions on submitting applications online.

In the event that you need to go to a Service Canada Centre, it is recommended that you make an appointment by completing an online service request form and specifying the number of people to meet, if it is a group.
